Webinar #4 – MDS and Standards of Participation: Steps to Prepare for a Successful Survey

PURPOSE
Significant changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) patient assessment tool released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will be effective Oct. 1, 2023. Now is the time for skilled nursing facilities to understand the changes so they can prepare their staff and settings ahead of the deadline.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
•Discuss the long-term care survey pool selection based on the current MDS assessments.
•Review the importance of the MDS assessment and areas prone to coding errors.
•Examine three strategies to ensure MDS assessment, CAA summaries, and resident care plan accurately reflect the residents' current needs.
